Chestnut honey
It is produced throughout Italy, from the Alps to Sicily, in medium mountain areas.
From the flowers of the Chestnut, Castanea sativa, this dark honey is obtained, with a characteristic and immediately recognizable flavor. Much appreciated throughout Italy, much loved by chefs because of its aromatic complexity.
Production Period and Zone: June - Lazio / Abruzzo
Uses: as table honey. Excellent paired with aged cheeses
CHESTNUT HONEY
Color: from amber to almost black, according to the production areas.
Odor: strong and penetrating, of Marseille soap, tannin.
Taste: similar to the smell, pungent at the beginning, then more or less strongly bitter depending on the origin.
